Round 4 – FNQ 2 Hot to Handle

While the SEQ were enjoying some cooler weather due to the recent rains, teams from Far North Queensland were heating up in their charge towards the title. Rockhampton, Townsville & Cairns were all looking to bounce back after surprising Round 3 results didn’t go their way, while Mackay were looking to keep their unbeaten streak going against the Glitz and Glamour of Labrador.

After their slow start in the first 3 rounds, Townsville went into the week looking to spark a revival that would see them post their first points for the season. However, taking on Donna Martin and the gang from Wynnum Vikings was going to be no easy feat. Knowing this Sharon & Craig Allen rang around and geared their teams up for a battle and what a battle is was. Townsville come out all guns blazing seeing 19 new teams get involved this week to keep Wynnum at bay early in the peace and the onslaught didn’t stop there. After a full week of constant pressure Wynnum couldn’t match the firepower of Townsville in the end waving the white flag as Townsville took the honours 5-0.

A draw last week left Cairns outside the Top 4 and in a vulnerable spot on the ladder heading into their Round 4 Clash with the Undefeated Capalaba. Cairns needed to come up with a miracle and fast if they wanted to keep foot with the top of the table so Sam rallied the troops and armed them with a new top secret game plan that had everyone guessing what she was planning. Crushers by name become Crushers by nature as in the end Cairns handed Capalaba a Social Media lesson by relegating them to 9th position on the ladder after a 27-2 drubbing. Similar results also went Rockhampton’s way with a 9-0 demolition of Bundaberg now leaving both teams in striking distance of the Top 4 coming down the home straight.

Mackay are making easy work of every opposition week in week out and this week was no different. Taking on the Gold Coast’s Power Couple in Ray & Ang from Labrador. Mackay had their work cut out for them from the get go as Labrador have been at the forefront of Social Media Engagement for the past few years but Courtney and the gang weren’t going to let reputation scare them off. With the results in its evident no amount of Fake Tan & Pre Workout could have saved the glamour club this week as the might of Central Queensland powered home to kick Labrador further down the ladder with a 11-1 pasting.

Sam Sell (Cairns Venue Manager) had this to say during their press conference. “It was important for us to hit the training park hard this week and put our second half lapse last week against Caboolture behind us” “With a lot of crucial matchups this week we knew we needed a strong showing against Capalaba”. “Im really pleased with the guys effort this week but that doesn’t mean our job is done. If were serious about our goal of being Social Media Champions then this week’s game against Ferny Hills will show us where were really at”
