With Round 1 Kicking off in style it was now time to see what Round 2 had to offer. After Ferny Hills went down in a close tussle to Bray Park in round 1,  Mitch De La Roche and the gang were looking to avenge their loss as they took on another powerhouse opponent in the Maroochydore Suns in Round 2.

Straight off the blocks Josh Bookers Ivory Toast team, who were fresh of their Round 1 dominance got Maroochydore off to a strong start early as Ferny hills appeared to be asleep at the start line. With Ferny Hills still scathing from their Round 1 defeat, it was only a matter of time before they kicked into gear and boy did they come home with a bang stealing the win at the death with a 7-6 victory.  In the end Maroochydore were once again left scratching their head on how they let another one slip through their fingers.

After Wavell Heights scratchy Round 1 win over Coolum, Venue Manager Sherrie Wharerau was not happy with her team’s performance and she issued them all a challenge to rise to the occasion as they took on Bundaberg in a battle of City vs Country. Bundaberg were happy to take on the underdog status in this battle as they were hoping to sneak under Wavell’s radar and catch them by surprise. However with Sherrie’s words still fresh in their minds, the Wavell Heights local teams took no mercy this week and crushed Bundaberg with a whopping 51-0 Score line.

With Wavell being so Hot & Cold in the first 2 rounds, it’s left many wondering if they are the real deal or just looking to make up the numbers.

Mackay Mustangs short lived stint on top has come to an end with Wavell Heights overtaking them with a for and against of 14+ over Mackay. The race to the top is still anyone’s game with 10 Venues all sitting on 6 points and with round 3 in progress at the moment a loss here could prove fatal.

The Rockhampton Cyclones who were just sitting outside the top eight in Round 1 have kept pace with the pack again in Round 2 and should be a team to watch as they are notorious for coming home strong.

Rockhampton Venue Manager Ryan Scott was kind enough to sit down with us after Round 2 and talk about his team’s chances coming into Round 3  “Were as tough as nails, we go into every round like it’s our last and we look to grind teams down” he said.  “If we can match our opponents early on in the peace were confident in our teams ability to be able to grind out the win”.  “Wavell Heights better look out for us this week as were looking to make it 3-0”……

Early pace setters Ivory Toast (Maroochydore) have continued their form into Round 2 with another dominate display taking out full points again this week. However with Maroochydore losing once again Ivory Toast may regret missing out on 10 Bonus Points once again as this brought the Pumas u12 Boys (Springfield) & Hashtag (Bray Park) within striking distance.
