Tri Series 2019 – Wrap up, Winners, MVPs and All Star and Queensland Merit Teams

2019 Tri Series attracted 90 Referees, 120 teams from 3 States, 1700 + players and 6500 spectators in a skillful and exhilarating 3 days to Sunshine Coast Stadium.

Queensland Oztag would like to thank everyone that was involved in making this huge weekend so enjoyable; from the parents/spectators, to the coaches, the players and all the referees and officials involved.

A huge congratulations to all players that participated over the weekend with what is always a jam packed event on the Oztag calendar. Not much more could be crammed into the Friday with it including team training sessions, an opening ceremony spectacle and of course commencement of our games. The 2019 Tri Series saw teams from The City Centurions, Country Mavericks, Queensland Barbarians, Queensland Force and once again our NSW and Melbourne counterpart take to the field over the weekend.

This year’s Tri Series had 26 divisions all competing for the chance to be titled the 2019 Tri Series Champions in their division.   As was the same as last year the City Centurions certainly showed their dominance in taking out 14 of the 26 divisions.  However not to be outdone the NSW City teams also showed their might in taking out 7 of the divisions including an all NSW battle in the Senior Mixed Division between NSW City and NSW Country.

The 2019 Tri Series saw outstanding talent come from far and wide with the MVP’s coming from all regions that competed.  14 of these MVP’s came from the City Centurions, 6 from Queensland Country, 6 from the NSW City and 2 from the Queensland Barbarians.

All players from the weekend displayed incredible skill level with some of which lucky enough to have progressed to be selected in the Queensland Force Merit teams and All Stars Merit teams that were selected over the weekend by Coaches and Officials Rankings completed at each game.

Queensland Oztag would again like to congratulate all involved and again look forward to what is set to be an even bigger event in 2020.
